Sierra Vista, Arizona (pop. 45,107) is the largest municipality in Cochise County, located about 30 miles south of Interstate 10, 75 miles southeast of Tucson, and 190 miles southeast of Phoenix. The city is home to Fort Huachuca, an active U.S. Army installation and major economic driver for southeast Arizona. The city has long recognized the need to diversify the local economy through increased business development and is a key player in economic development efforts in the region. Recent efforts have included improvements in the city's historic West End, the Municipal Airport Diversification Study, development of a technical assistance program to help local businesses, and recently revamped, streamlined permitting processes.
